365 down, 7 to go?

Today is March 6th and marks the 365th day (actually 366th since its a leap year) since I left home.  On the 6th of March 2011 I left home and arrived at Camp Atterbury Indiana to begin this adventure.  Today is also my last day on FOB Smart before begin my week long journey homeward.

I have handed over my responsibilities to the new PRT members and now just have to finish packing my things.  I am giddy with excitement today as I think of being back home so very very soon.

Its been a long and hard year.  I have spent every holiday and birthday away from my home and my family.   I also know that Garret has made at least as much, if not more of a sacrifice than I have in the last 366 days.  I know that he has had to give up a lot for me to be here and I love and appreciate him so much for all he has done.  Those of us that wear the uniform are given appreciation in many ways, some even call us heroes.  I don't necessarily feel that I have done anything while I've been here to earn that title.  I do know though, that behind each of us in a uniform is a groupof loving and supportive people who are the true heroes.  The team on the home front that ensures we can do our job here without having to worry about life at home too much.  I cannot express how much I appreciate my husband for all he has done.  Garret, you are my hero.

I think this marks the end of this Air Force Mama's blog......thank you to those who followed along for the last year.  I'll see you soon!!

  1. Thank you for the praise Sweetie. You are our hero not for what you have done for the last year but for all you have done for myself and our family. We love you so much and missed more then I could tell you. We are so happy that this terrible part of our life is over with and finally Mommy is coming home. Can't wait to see you...Love The Fam.
